Free utilities are available from the Web pages of organizations such
as COAST and CIAC. On the CIAC home page, users can select the Security
Tools option to obtain access to free software for a variety of computer
and network platforms, including TCPWrapper, Gabriel, Netlog, Courtney,
Argus, Watcher and other audit, monitoring and prophylactic utilities.
In addition to Tripwire, other utilities are available from the COAST home
page by selecting the COAST Tools option. As with many free utilities, support
for these may be limited. Prospective users should perhaps develop contacts
with FIRST member organizations or attend sponsored events to learn about
the free utilities and their effectiveness.
