TRACK TWO: IT TECHNICAL HORIZON

How Low is Low? Low Maintenance and Zero Administration

Imagine, inexpensive computers without the huge OS and platform specific applications required by today's typical desktop system. Inexpensive computers that use a microkernel OS, and platform independent software written in an interpreted language (such as Java). Inexpensive computers that run component-based programs and applets users download from a network or the Internet when needed. How much software and hardware maintenance do you think these inexpensive computers will need? How much maintenance is low maintenance? Be sure to join us as this session seeks to answer these maintenance administration questions and, most likely, confront new ones along the way.
