This two-day workshop is designed for IT professionals who are already familiar with Windows NT security and want to learn more about advanced and sometimes undocumented features of this product that affect security.

This intensive workshop explores details related to the internal functionality of Windows NT itself as well as its networking mechanisms and protocols to determine the security flaws that exist and the trade off in designing and implementing suitable solutions. Attendees will learn specific, advanced techniques such as how to modify the Registry, how to utilize network control measures such as firewalls and host-based wrapper tools, and how to administer Windows NT securely.

About the Instructor: Dr. Eugene Schultz is a Trusted Security Advisor for SAIC. Prior to joining SAIC, Dr. Schultz was the Principal consultant at SRI Consulting, a subsidiary of SRI International. He also served as the Program Manger for SRI’s International Information Integrity Institute (I-4) as well as Practice Leader for SRI Consulting Information Security.

An expert in NT, Unix, LAN, and network security, and security administration and management, Dr. Schultz has co-authored several books: Unix-Its Use, Control, and Audit (IIA/EDPAA), Internet Security for Business, (John Wiley), and Practical Windows NT Security (O’Reilly). A consulting editor of Network Security and the Secretary of IFIP Working Group 11.3 (network security), he published over 70 journal articles. He was voted one of the Top Presenters at the SANS ’98 Conference and was co-recipient of the Best Paper Award at the 1995 National Information Systems Security Conference.
