WHO SHOULD ATTEND: This intensive workshop is for individuals who need to understand how NT security works by acquainting attendees with NT's security exposures and configuration options that, if not properly selected and implemented, can also lead to security compromise. This workshop is of particular value to system and network administrators, system programmers, developers, information security staff, and advanced users.

YOU WILL LEARN: The major goal of this workshop is to enable attendees to make sound, reasoned decisions about Windows NT security based on a genuine comprehension of this product's functionality and vulnerabilities. Case studies of real-life NT security deployments and security-related incidents presented throughout the course help make this course of practical value to attendees.

AGENDA:
  • An overview of Windows NT features and functionality
  • The basic windows NT security model and the security mechanisms that support this model
  • Windows NT security exposures and the kinds of incidents that can occur because of each.
  • Specific security issues, including: authentication mechanisms and encryption; accounts and groups; rights and abilities; file systems security; RAS access; virus control; securing TCP/IP services in heterogeneous network environments; security maintenance; securing the registry
